Biographie

Clément Renault  is an historian, senior research fellow in ‘Intelligence, War & Strategy.’ His research investigates the impact of the evolving international order and of contemporary strategic challenges on intelligence organizations. He specifically examines three main areas of adaptation: intelligence as a tool for political and military decision-making; intelligence as an evolving bureaucratic system; and intelligence as a key player in international relations, operating alongside military forces and diplomacy through clandestine operations.

Clément Renault,  educated in the United Kingdom, earned his PhD in War Studies from the University of Glasgow. He is a Visiting Fellow in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London and teaches at Sciences Po. He holds a master’s degree in international security from the University of Kent (Brussels School of International Studies) and two bachelor’s degrees: one in modern literature from the Institut Catholique d'Études Supérieures (ICES) and the other in philosophy from the University of Paris-X Nanterre. With over a decade of experience in various areas of international security, he has served for the European Commission, the United Nations in West Africa, and worked as an analyst and strategic advisor for the French Ministry of Armed Forces.
